Artistic Director Robert Parrish and the Musica Sacra Cantorum Board of Directors are pleased to announce the ensemble's 2011-2012 season of concerts.
A Treasury of Hymns October 17's "A Treasury of Hymns" will celebrate the rich tradition of hymnody. The concert will include such hymns as "Lift High the Cross", in a stunning arrangement by Robert Hobby and Richard Wayne Dirksen's moving "Rejoice Ye Pure in Heart". The audience will also join in singing treasured classics such as "Eternal Father, Strong to Save" and "How Great Thou Art". Going Baroque at Christmas A Baroque inspired Christmas feast is being prepared for you. J.S. Bach's Cantatas #1 and #40 are the main entreés with additional works by Baroque composers as well as Baroque-inspired works. Two for One We explore how two composers treat the same text in our presentation of "Two for One". You'll be treated to settings of "O Sacrum Convivium" by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and Olivier Messiaen, "Ave Verum Corpus" by Edward Elgar and William Mathias and "Hosanna to the Son of David" by John Baptiste Calkin and Daniel Moe, among many others. Explore the composer's art of turning text into music with this innovative concert. Gloria! We close our 2011 - 2012 season with a celebration of the Gloria. We anchor our celebration with the haunting French masterpiece by Francis Poulenc and the uplifting and charming setting by John Rutter.
