"Joyfully exploring the canon of sacred choral music"

About Us

MUSICA SACRA CANTORUM, an ensemble of qualified and dedicated musicians, is selected by audition and committed to rigorous musicianship in pursuit of our goal:  Performance and promotion of sacred choral music to the widest possible audience in and around the Sarasota/Bradenton area.

This goal will be achieved in a series of concerts as well as informational events such as seminars, lectures and other presentations designed to inform audiences and share with them the ensemble’s commitment to joyful exploration of all kinds of sacred choral music from many sources, historic eras and nationalities.

Musica Sacra Cantorum is the youngster on the block of choral ensembles in the Florida Gulf Coast region.  Youngster, that is if you count only the years that Musica Sacra Cantorum has been in existence. Musica Sacra Cantorum is a regional ensemble with members hailing from Manatee and Sarasota counties. Musica Sacra Cantorum's singers are some of the most seasoned in the region.

In the short period of its existence, Musica Sacra Cantorum has already amassed a repertoire of more than thirty works.  Some are small, others large, but all are gems of choral composition.

We rehearse at the First Presbyterian Church in Sarasota and perform at various venues in the Sarasota-Manatee county region.

Our debut concert featured Giacomo Carissimi's masterpiece Jephthah along with the Florida premier of Albert Ludecke's Dilexi, Quoniam and two of W. A. Mozart's church sonatas, featuring members of the Sarasota Orchestra.
